A bit of history related to the name, Orpheus, son of Apollo and Calliope, was a great musician from Thrace who married the beautiful Eurydice. He played the lyre and sang so beautifully that wild animals were tamed and the rivers stopped listening. In early Christianity, Orpheus surrounded by wild animals was a symbol of Christ and this motif often appeared in the catacombs of Orpheus tells the story of the death of his wife. Eurydice was bitten by a snake and descended to Hades.

Another interesting fact:

Orfeusgruppen (also Orfeusbrunnen) is a fountain sculpture made in the years 1926-1936 by Carl Milles and cast in Herman Bergman Konstgjuteri. It stands in front of the Concert Hall on Hötorget in Stockholm. Orpheus is the one who represented the art of music and playing the lyre in Greek mythology.
