Historical outline:
A group of 15 craftsmen, including Mats Jonasson, bought the glassworks from Kosta Glasbruk. They also received a lot of help from the local population. Of the 250 villagers, 80 invested in the mill.
From humble beginnings in 1981, the company has grown and today is the largest private glassworks in Sweden. Målerås continues to brighten homes all over the world. The love of Swedish glass is what drives Målerås's development today, and Mats Jonasson is determined that his glass should be made in Målerås - the city that shaped him into the person he is today.
