Hackefors Porslinsfabrik, or Hackefors Porslinsindustri as it was initially called, was founded in 1929 by bank director John O. Nilsson in Hackefors just outside Linköping. To help him, he had the former the foreman at Karlskrona Porslinsfabrik Erik Reinhold Jyberg and as chamberlain and later manager Karl-Erik Möller, also from Karlskrona, was appointed. Other board members were the landowner and count Johan Falkenberg and manager Fritz Nilsson. The purpose of the factory was to import semi-finished porcelain that could then be decorated and sold under its own name. Some of the porcelain painters were brought from Karlskrona with the help of Jyberg, others were employed on a trial basis for a period to learn the trade. Initially, they had about 20 employees.
