The company began its operations as the "Porzellanfabrik Unger, Schneider & Cie" factory in 1859. It has gone through various mergers and ownership changes.
In 1885, it became partially owned by Hermann Hutschenreuther, a relative of the famous porcelain manufacturer. In 1886 it became the factory of Carl Schneiders Erben.
